You Already Know

Some letters are tender. Some are strange. Some leave you wondering if you’re being watched.

This one? This one already knows who it’s for.

Over and over, the same line loops through the page like a chant, a curse, or a love note that never got delivered. At first, it feels dramatic. A little much. But then you start wondering:

Why is it written so many times? Why does the handwriting change halfway through? Why does it start to fall apart?

And why does it feel like someone left this specifically for you?

It doesn’t say your name. It doesn’t need to. The envelope just says, “You already know.”

Maybe you do.

Maybe you’re already remembering what you tried to forget.

I wrote it down so I could let it go,
